Meet The Principals

Interim Principal Teresa Harris

I have over 18 years of experience in education, having served as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, dean, and assistant principal in St. Louis Public Schools and Normandy Schools Collaborative. This school year marks my first year as the principal of Barack Obama Elementary School.

Throughout my career, I have worked with diverse groups of people to achieve a common goal of improving student achievement and well-being. My educational philosophy is rooted in the belief that every student has the capacity to learn, given access to grade-level content, resources, a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, a committed and focused educational team, an encouraging community, and supportive families. Fortunately, the Normandy School District embodies all of these qualities.

In 2010, I earned a Master of Arts in Education from Lindenwood University. In 2018, I graduated from the University of Missouri St. Louis, where I obtained my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and my Administrative Certification. I consider education to be a calling and feel honored to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students.
